OUR ACTIVITIES

We are on a mission to connect, inspire & transform the industry 'towards a brighter blue'. Taking input from our International Advisory Board, the Leadership Breakfast events and close collaboration with Transformers Foundation, our primary activities are Education and Advocacy. We also partner with universities, governments and brands to pilot collaborative projects in the fields of circularity, innovation and promotion of best practices.

Education

In the fall of 2022, we will celebrate the 10th anniversary of Jean School, the world's first and only dedicated education programme to train Bright Blue new talent for the industry. Circularity, innovation, craftsmanship and style are the pillars of this remarkable course.

The school was co-founded with Amsterdam's finest education body, ROCvA and developed in close conjunction with leading brands and value chain partners. In the spring/summer of 2022 we will re-engage with our industry partners to co-create new ways forward for the school, its team, students and alumni.

Diversity & Inclusion

As well as state-funded and accredited education in Dutch (a three-year course and minors offered in collaboration with other schools), partnerships with internationally acclaimed fashion schools and short courses, we also offer an English-spoken one-year International Course.

We have also developed a programme of internships, mentoring, master classes and short courses for young adults; specifically aimed at inclusion and diversity. Together with our partners, we aim to allow talent from all backgrounds access to inspiration, careers and growth in our sector.

Advocacy

House of Denim serves to Advocate the Good. In this era of greenwashing and self-congratulation, we support the ‘Cut the crap’ policies promoted by the Transformers Foundation. The transition we need will not come from fluffy terms, cover-ups and self-promotion.

We promote the transitions to clean laundry, smart dyeing and post-consumer recycling of fabrics & fiber. More importantly though, we promote common sense and honest enterprise: the pursuit of quality and love of product.

We support and subscribe to the Transformers ethical principles

  1. Honesty and Transparency

  2. Empathy

  3. Promise-Keeping & Trustworthiness

  4. Loyalty

  5. Fairness

  6. Reputation & Morale

  7. Accountability

  8. Respect

And would like to add two of our own:

9.   Quality : make amazing product that people can love for years

10. Kick Ass: show some style and be nice to people

Collaboration

House of denim initiates, supports and contributes to a number of ad hoc projects in partnership with universities, ngo’s, brands and governments. Our goal is to contribute to the transitions necessary to keep global warming under 1.5degrees as stipulated by science-based United Nations programmes and represented by the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

 Our current projects focus are:

#12 Responsible Consumption & Production : Denim Deal (a coalition to make post-consumer recycling and the use of PCR fibre/fabrics the industry norm) and projects relating to Repair.

#4 Quality Education : Jean School and other education programs, collaboration.

 #10 Reduced Inequalities
